The City maintains an industrial park approximately 3 miles north of the city on State Highway 109. The industrial park has excellent utilities services and can adapt to any needs. The La Junta Airport is at the north end of the industrial park. The La Junta Raceway, hosting a dozen or more races and meets each year, is at the east end of the airport, just north of Falcon Industries. The La Junta Rodeo Grounds hosts the Kids' Rodeo each year, as well as other rodeo events and events related to the ranching lifestyle. The City's Electric Department recently completed work on a new 7.5 MW electrical substation. Heavy truck shipping is accomodated by way of US Highway 50 and Colorado Highway 109. Several local industries, including Lewis Bolt and Nut, Falcon Industries, DeBourgh Manufacturing, and UPS, rely on heavy trucking to move either or both raw materials and finished product.
